Book and Product Replacement Criteria

Books

The following criteria are based on what we've learned from the majority of customers who have reported damages and standards that our publishers have outlined as their standard policy to return books to them.

If you believe your book qualifies for a replacement based on the information below, please send a photo our customer service team at info@onceuponabookclub.com so they can help you! Please note if a replacement is unable to be fulfilled due to inventory, we will be able to share other options with our readers.

Below are some general guidelines, however, every replacement request will be manually reviewed by our team and all replacements are at the discretion of our customer service team.

The following issues do qualify as damage to our books:

  • Extreme dings that affect its ability to be read
  • Extreme dings that affect its ability to be displayed
  • Misprinted text on the spine to the point it can not be fully read when standing on a bookshelf
  • Pages of the book missing or torn
  • Punctured pages or spine
  • Sections of the book missing or torn
  • Sliced or cut pages
  • Spine split in half
  • Stained or discolored pages
  • Sticky residue that cannot be removed
  • Torn dust jacket
  • Water damaged pages, spine, or cover

The following issues do not qualify as damage to our books:

  • Dust jackets that are loose/ill-fitting
  • Dust jackets with minimal creasing
  • Light scratches
  • Minor dings that do not affect its ability to be read
  • Minor dings that do not affect its ability to be displayed
  • Minor wavy/wrinkled pages
  • Slightly off-center text on the spine that can be fully read when standing on a bookshelf
  • Small areas of color that have rubbed off
  • Sticky residue that can be removed
  • Torn pieces that are still slightly attached
  • Typical shelf wear such as minor dulling or fading
  • Wrinkles on paperback spines

  • Extreme dings that affect its ability to be used
  • Extreme dings that affect its ability to be displayed
  • Extreme ink bleeding
  • Extreme misspellings or misprints that affect the ability to be used or displayed
  • Holes, tears, or rips that render the item unusable
  • Missing components of the gift that render the item unusable
  • Item broken and unusable
  • Torn or pieces missing
  • Water damage

The following issues do not qualify as damage to our gifts:

  • Light scratches
  • Minor dings that do not affect its ability to be used
  • Minor dings that do not affect its ability to be displayed
  • Minor ink bleeds
  • Minor misspellings or misprints that do not affect the ability to be used or displayed
  • Minor holes, tears, or rips that do not affect the ability to use the item.
  • Missing components of the gift that do not affect the ability to use the item as a whole
  • Slight fraying or loose threads
  • Small areas of color that have rubbed off
  • Torn pieces that are still slightly attached

As a reminder, our replacement window is 14 days from the date your box is delivered. After 14 days have passed, we cannot guarantee that we will have inventory to supply replacements.
